ED&C Wound Care 

 

 

  • Leave your bandage in place until the day after the procedure, ideally 24 hours 
  • Clean procedure site daily with diluted mild soapy water (it is okay to shower) 
  • Apply Cerave ointment or Vaseline to site and cover with a new Band-Aid DAILY. Do not let the procedure site form a thick, crusted scab. 
  • It may take 2-3 weeks for site to completely heal. 
  • Avoid submerging the procedure site in hot tubs or swimming pools until it is completely healed. 
  • If procedure site starts to bleed, apply direct pressure for 10-15 minutes without looking.

**Antibiotic ointment can be used, but has a higher risk of possible allergic reaction. 

**Some redness, itching and weeping around the procedure site is a normal part of healing.   

 

WOUND CARE IF YOU PURCHASED DUODERM FROM OUR OFFICE OR A HYDROSEAL BANDAID   

 

  • Change dressing every 3-7 days. 
  • After removal, wash with soap and water.   
  • Upon removal of the dressing, the wound will be moist and “soupy” This gel-like substance should be present.  This is normal and desired. 
  • To help the dressing stay in place use a hypofix or medical tape
